ArcheryModern-day Robin Hood. When it comes to archery, mastery of your body and concentration are of the essence. During your holiday on the Ritten you can put your bow-and-arrow skills to the test in Kematen, above Oberbozen, where an archery trail leads through the open countryside with 3D model animal targets made from a special plastic. An added bonus: Pulling the bow strengthens your shoulder, arm and back muscles.
Lamas & Alpaca trekkingFrom our hotel, a half-hour walk will take you to the Kaserhof farm. The farm is just above Oberbozen, and is a little out of the ordinary: 200 lamas and alpacas live here. Sabina and Walter Mair have been breeding them for over 30 years and today have not only the oldest, but also the largest, breed of its kind in Italy. On a European level “de Oro,” as the farm is known, has been the recipient of numerous awards.

Nordic WalkingFit with two sticks! Nordic walking is the perfect training for the whole body, boosts the metabolism and strengthens muscles and bones. Just open the door and you’re off and away. The Freud Promenade is right in front of the Hotel and is the ideal route for outdoor training. From spring to autumn, weekly Nordic walking tours are also on offer. Book directly at the hotel.
Skiing & SnowboardingWeaving in and out on perfectly groomed slopes with a breathtaking 360° panorama. That’s the Ritten Style. The slopes on the Rittner Horn are wide, and the perfect place to ease your way into winter sports. The Rittner Horn is also an outstanding destination for families and lovers of peace and tranquillity.
The terrain park at the middle station is also a particularly cool attraction for freestylers.
Just below the Rittner Horn peak, there is a “snow kite zone” where skiers and boarders can hook up to a delta plane and whizz over the snowy alpine meadows and slopes.

SledgingSledging on the Ritten is a fabulous experience for the whole family. The outstandingly groomed Ritten toboggan run is 5.5 km long and runs over rolling Alpine pastures and adventurous stretches of woodland. The run begins at the Schwarzseespitze, leads down to the left, past the Schönalm farm and down to the valley station in Pemmern. And if you haven’t had enough after the first run, you can either walk uphill or take the train and do it all over again.
Ice SkatingThe Ritten ice rink is the pride of the locals, not to mention the fastest outdoor ice rink in the world. Year after year, international speed skaters set their records here. And you too have the opportunity to dash around on the rink.

SnowshoeingRevel in the sparkling winter wonderland on the Rittner Horn. Explore the snow-blanketed Alpine meadows and slopes and the untouched winter lands on snowshoes and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks far from the beaten track. Top tip: The panoramic route at the mountain station with the “Round Table” lookout point and the “Dolomitoskop” with incredible views over the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
Ski touringMore and more winter sports enthusiasts are discovering ski touring. The Ritten boasts the perfect conditions for this sport, and is becoming ever more popular as a training ground for ski tourers. The ascent with touring skis from Pemmern to the 2,260 Rittner Horn is monitored attentively. Every Wednesday evening and on full-moon nights, the route is open in the evenings, and some mountain huts are also open on these evenings.
